Here is my very HONEST scoop after 3 years of intensive work with the 350Z:

First and most important: choose your way - stay naturally aspirated or go forced induction?

You will spend a lot of money down the road for high power so you need to make up your mind if you want a very torqueful engine or the high rev type. A supercharger kit will give you 360-400 hp and great amounts of torque, even in lower rpm! Starting at approx. 9500 Euro installed. A turbo kit will give you 400++ hp but this is another league since you need to build the whole engine up and reinforce a lot of parts. Good work will cost no less than 20.000 Euro installed.

If you decide to stay naturally aspirated you will have to do a LOT of parts to gain power. We have proven gains of nearly 30 hp with our complete QAS exhaust line (including headers, catalyzers and ECU reflash) but this alone is around 4.000 Euro installed and tuned. Then you can upgrade the intake side with intake, plenum etc and maybe gain another 10-15 hp at another 1000-1500 Euro expense, depending on the components. And after that you will need to go into the engine internals to gain more power, cams, head work, high compression, stroker kit... the expenses raise exponentially from there.

There is only one more thing you can do gain back lost power: reduction of rotational masses! Very effective for acceleration, not too expensive, and "free" power without higher stress for the engine. The parts herefor are light weight flywheel (QAS 429 Euro), pulleys (UR 369 Euro), brake discs (ST AeroRotors 1580 Euro), and also wheels and tires if you do not have the OEM RAYS wheels already.

Having said all of this, if you want the power and acceleration of an equivalent of approx. 360 hp you will have to spent around 10.000 Euro no matter what way you choose. ;)

Now, maybe someone can translate this because I feel any automatic translator will mess it up big time! :cheesy:

If you want to invest 5000 Euro here is the most effective setup for your money.

This is if you want your car to accelerate faster and become very responsive:

QAS light weight flywheel (429)
UR light weight pulleys (369)
STOP TECH light weight brake discs (1580)
QAS short final drive 3.9:1 (995)
QAS ECU reflash (899)

This is around 4200 Euro but you will need the rest for installation cost! ;)

If you want it to sound loud and mean and have some 30 hp extra power and rev willingly to 7000 rpm than you should go with this setup:

QAS cat-back (1399)
QAS sport catalyzers (899)
QAS sport header (599)
MOTORDYNE plenum spacer (339)
ECU reflash (899)

Also around 4200 Euro and the rest for installation.

Or you can make a combination für quickness and sound:

QAS light weight flywheel (429)
UR light weight pulleys (369)
QAS cat-back (1399)
QAS short final drive 3.9:1 (995)
QAS ECU reflash (899)

If you have any questions, we will be happy to answer them! :)

Silo, very good summary.

360 hp is from the 280 (or 300) hp ?
I hope there will soon have solution for the 313 hp.

Intake: already 3 parts
Exhaust: all are compatible
Catalyzers and headers: nothing for the moment...
Plenum spacer: nothing...

what is the QAS short final drive 3.9:1 (995) ?

If I had an aim, it would be to be sure to be faster than the last BMW M3 (V8 420hp) one of my friend has it

Yes, 360 hp was based on the 280 hp engine, although the difference to the 301 hp is not so big.

As for the VQ35HR (313 hp) with dual intake and dual throttles the plenum is made out of plastic and entirely different so no plenum spacer for now.

Headers you will not need since they have improved them from factory, unless you want to change to long tube headers (http://www.quantumautosport.com/qas/shop/product_info.php?products_id=362&car_models_id=68&car_manufacturers_id=7&selectedmodelname=Nissan+350Z+-+Z33+2003-&selectedcategoryname=Abgasanlage&productcategory_id=5&osCsid=cadabe5c4cb9f176c32ba331f3501d8b) in which case these should be compatible. I do not think that the catalyzers are entirely different, but we haven't had a chance to test fit ours yet.

The QAS final drive (http://www.quantumautosport.com/qas/shop/product_info.php?products_id=388&car_models_id=68&car_manufacturers_id=7&selectedmodelname=Nissan+350Z+-+Z33+2003-&selectedcategoryname=Antrieb&productcategory_id=2&osCsid=8557b98f554385ccc8aff5bad097f4f8) reduces all gears by 10%. A shorter gearing makes your car quicker (acceleration) while it reduces the max. speed per gear and the Vmax. The Vmax issue is only theoretical however, since the 6th gear is pretty long and you can still reach the 250 km/h limiter. We also offer this with a Nmax increase (most usefull for the 280hp engine, Nmax 6600->7000 rpm).

BTW, Greddy has released their twin turbo kit for the VQ35HR at this years SEMA show but if they are still using those hughe TD05H-18G turbos ("good for 700hp")...

That I forgot to comment! :D The new M3 has a V8 with 420 hp and at 1655 kg it has a weight to power ratio of 3,9 kg/hp. However, I was able to follow one on the Autobahn quite good with our STILLEN stage 3 supercharged Z!

But let's compare the prices, even if you take the new car prices:

350Z = 40.000 Euro + 9.500 Euro STILLEN stage 3 s/c installed + 2.300 Euro QAS exhaust & cats = 51.800 Euro total

M3 V8 (no extras!) = 66.650 Euro

compressor maybe, or weight and little power increase. Don't need to have 420 hp, but moreover 3.9 kg/hp.

Here there is a rumor saying that a M5 has been beaten by an opel corsa (opel vectra gts motor and 800 kg) ouch...

For me 350Z = 35 000 € (not the pack) and I am trying to save weight.
And the M3, my friend has paid it 90 000 €

telle me when a compressor is available for the VQ35HR (i have been beaten by the M5 twice now :) )...
